Featured Sites in Greece Temple of Hephaestus Athens, Attica This fine Doric temple was built just two years before the Parthenon, dedicated to the god of volcanoes and metalworking. Portara Naxos Island, Cyclades This iconic door that leads nowhere is the entrance to an unfinished Temple of Apollo that faces exactly toward Delos, the god's birthplace. It was begun about 530 BC.
