Sacred Sites and Religious Places of Sweden
Below is an index of sacred sites and religious places in Sweden that are profiled so far on Sacred Destinations. The list is far from comprehensive - many more great sites remain to be added.

Gamla Uppsala
This was one of the most important sacred sites in Scandinavia, with a large temple, human sacrifices, and fiery royal funerals. The first Swedish cathedral was built over the pagan temple in the 11th century. |

Uppsala Cathedral (Domkyrka)
The Domkyrka of Uppsala is the largest cathedral in Scandinavia. The twin-spired, rose-hued Gothic structure stands nearly 400 feet tall and boasts an impressive Gothic interior. Inside are the relics of St. Erik, tombs of notables, and a small museum. |
