Brazil
The 11th largest country in the world, Brazil encompasses a fascinating range of cultures, nationalities and traditions. The predominant culture is Portuguese-speaking Catholic, but there are also large communities of Africans, indigenous peoples, Germans, Italians and more.
Brazilian religious architecture is dominated by European-style churches from the 16th century onward, yet the country is perhaps best known for its exciting modern architecture, such as the striking Brasilia Cathedral and the colossal statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio.
