Senanque Abbey Provence, France Founded in 1148, the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Sénanque is a lovely Cistercian abbey and one of the best places to see Provence's famed lavender fields. Callanish Stones Isle of Lewis, Western Isles, Scotland This atmospheric site on the Isle of Lewis dates from 2900-2600 BC. It consists of a large stone circle surrounding a burial chamber, with four avenues of stones forming a cross shape. Ring of Brodgar Orkney, Scotland Dating from around 2500 BC, this magnificent stone circle occupies a scenic location between two lakes on Orkney. Measuring nearly 104 m in diameter, it is the third largest stone circle in Britain.
