Another aerial view of Avebury, this time from the south. Note the modern crop circle in the lower left of the photo - these regularly turn up near ancient sites such as Avebury and Stonehenge.

Two modern roads divide the Avebury circle, forming four sectors or quadrants. The southwest (bottom left) and southeast (top left) sectors contain the most surviving stones. Avebury Henge once consisted of a large outer stone circle with two smaller inner circles in the northwest and northeast sectors (right).
Our virtual tour starts from the parking lot and main entrance to the site, which is on the west (left) side. The following photos will take you down through the southwest sector (bottom left) , then the southeast sector (bottom right), where we walk along the chalk path atop the bank, and around through the north side (top).
