West Window: Ancestors of Christ
Seth, Adam, and Joseph in the bottom row of the west window. The Adam window is the oldest in the cathedral, dating from c.1174. These panels are part of a set of ancestors of Christ originally placed in the clerestory of Canterbury Cathedral after the fire of 1174. As many as 86 ancestors were placed in these upper windows, of which 43 survive. Nine ancestors are still in the clerestory, 22 have been placed in the South Window, and 12 are here in the West Window. Canterbury Cathedral, Kent, England.
