Medieval stained glass panel depicting Moses leading the Israelites away from Pharaoh. Left panel in the second register of the Second Typological Window (n. XV, 32; c.1180 AD).
Exodus 13:21 says the Isrealites were led by God "in a pillar of a cloud by day... and by night in a pillar of fire." This imagery is interpreted quite literally by the artist, who has depicted a flaming pillar at the top left. This scene is related to the Magi leaving Herod, led by a star, which appears in the next panel.
