Jesse slumbers at the base of the magnificent Jesse Window (c.1340) in the north wall of the chancel. From his loins rises the Tree of Jesse, which is populated by around 40 ancestors of Christ in stone and glass. The empty space above him once held the Virgin and Child, who received the gifts of the Magi (two of them seen at left).
