This gallery of 215 photos accompanies our article on Ely Cathedral, the magnificent medieval cathedral known as the "Ship of the Fens." Most of the present building was completed by 1189 in the Romanesque style, with the unique octagon lantern and exceptionally large Lady Chapel added in the 1300s.
