C.S. Lewis Places in Oxford

Grave of C.S. Lewis

The grave of C.S. Lewis in Holy Trinity churchyard. It is a simple slab with no headstone and an epitaph written by his brother Warnie. The moving phrase "men must endure their going hence" is from King Lear and was on the Lewis family's Shakespeare calendar the day their beloved mother died. Lewis' grief-stricken father saved it and Warnie thought of it when his brother passed away.
