Tympanum: Weighing of Souls

Detail of the Last Judgment tympanum over the west door, sculpted by Gislebertus around 1130. St. Michael the Archangel is weighing the souls of the dead, tipping them in the right direction. On the other side of the scales, devils try to pull the scales the other way by hanging on them.
