Tympanum: The Redeemed

Detail of the Last Judgment tympanum over the west door, sculpted by Gislebertus around 1130. On the left side, redeemed souls ascend to heaven. Most catch a ride on the wings of angels and one is pulled up by St. Peter himself. At the top, the heads of those already in the Kingdom of Heaven can be seen. Along the bottom, a Latin inscription proclaims the joys of Paradise.
