The Becket Window depicts the life and violent death (in 1170) of St. Thomas Becket, Bishop of Canterbury. Murdered by agents of the king as he kneeled in prayer in Canterbury Cathedral, the English saint became popular throughout Europe and well known in the diocese of Chartres. Canterbury has several medieval Becket Windows, which are interesting to compare to this one across the Channel. The window is located on the side of a radiating chapel in the south ambulatory.
