West Lancet Windows (c.1150)
West Lancet Windows (c.1150)

Three lancet windows in the west facade, beneath the west rose. Except for a few fragments elsewhere, these are the sole surviving windows from the Romanesque cathedral that was almost completely destroyed by fire in 1194. They date from about 1150 and depict the Passion of Christ (left), the Life of Christ (center) and the Tree of Jesse (right).
