Fresco in the chapter house (also known as the Chapel of the Dead) from about 1200 depicting the Crucifixion. Christ is shown in great agony and the other figures are highly expressive. The central crucifixion scene - which incorporates the traditional elements of the Virgin and St. John and sun and moon - is surrounded by the prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah, Hosea and Philo Judaeus. Each prophet holds a scroll with the text of their prophecy about Christ. An inscription above the fresco proclaims that it was created in "a hundred days minus one."
