North gallery, capital 73, south face. The Three Hebrews in the Fiery Furnace. According to Daniel 3, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were government workers under King Nebuchadnezzar. When they refused to worship idols, he had them thrown into a fiery furnace. The three Hebrews were kept safe from harm and a fourth figure appeared with them: the angel of the Lord.
