Portal of the Virgin (c.1220): June

The Portal of the Virgin, dedicated to the patroness of the cathedral, was sculpted around 1210-20. The abutments of the doors have panels representing the cycle of earthly life. Shown here is a pair of Zodiacs and Labors of the Months. Leo the Lion (who has been switched with Cancer the Crab on the other side of the portal) and carrying hay for June.
