The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (Revelation 6): Victory with crown, bow and arrow on a white horse; War with a sword on a red horse; Famine with scales on a black horse; and Death with a scythe on a pale horse. The right side of the capital depicts Revelation 6:9-10: "When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. They called out in a loud voice, 'How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?'" Romanesque capital in the narthex (Tour de Gauzlin) of Saint-Benoît-sur-Loire Abbey, c.1070-80.
