The Estrichkreuz or Floor Cross, dating from the 6th century AD. During archaeological excavations of Bonn Münster, remainders of the church's predecessors were found. The earliest building was rectangular (14 m long and 9 m wide) and made of stone. It was built in the 6th century within a Roman cemetery on the site of a Roman memorial. In the mortar floor of this oldest church was a cross made of pieces of marble, which marked a grave.
