Elder Bible Window (c.1260): Presentation of Christ

The Presentation of Christ: Mary presents the baby Jesus to Simeon at the Temple and places a dove on the altar as an offering. Detail of the so-called Elder Bible Window, a typological window at the east end of Cologne Cathedral, c. 1260. The original panels are the oldest in the cathedral, but some were replaced c.1900. The panels make connections between stories in the Old Testament (left side) and New Testament (right side). This scene is paired with the Presentation of Samuel.
