Maria Laach Abbey

View of Maria Laach's abbey church from the northwest. An exceptional example of German Romanesque architecture, the church was begun in 1093 and completed in 1177. Seen here are the north transept (far left), square east towers, octagonal tower over the transept crossing, and one of the round towers of the west end.
