Maria Laach Abbey

Founder's Monument (1270)

Monument with larger-than-life effigy (gisant) of Pfalzgraf Heinrich II, who founded the abbey in 1093. The monument dates from 1270 and was originally placed in the center of the nave; it was moved to the west choir as part of a Baroque renovation around 1700.
