Sailer Chapel
Sailer Chapel

The Sailer Chapel occupies the southern area next to the chancel and is set aside for private prayer. This is the oldest part of the cathedral, built in the late 13th century. The chapel is named for the tomb of Regensburg bishop Johann Michael von Sailer (1751-1832), which was erected by King Ludwig I in 1837 in honor of his former tutor. The canopied Nativity Altar in the chapel dates from c.1415-20.
