Stadtbibliothek (City Library), Trier

The Stadtbibliothek (municipal library) of Trier contains a number of important collections that were gathered here in the early 19th century when many monastic libraries closed down.

Apart from countless documents dating from various periods, the library holds 74 full-page miniatures of the famous Trier Apocalypse (c.800 AD), as well as one of the few surviving copies of the Gutenberg Bible.
