Gortyna This archaeological site is best known for the Gortyn Code, a stone-inscribed law code from 500 BC. There are also Roman temple ruins and the Basilica of St. Titus here. Knossos This is one of the greatest archaeological sites in the world, and a colorful change from the usual Greco-Roman ruins. The Palace was built between 2000 and 1250 BC and was a poltical and religious center of the ancient Minoan culture.
