Dome of the Rock Interior: Ambulatories

This photo shows the interior of the Dome of the Rock outside the center circle. (Hover your mouse over the photo to locate the following sights.) We are standing in the outer ambulatory, the part carpeted in green. The columns are part of the inner octagon, which separates the outer ambulatory from the wider inner ambulatory (carpeted in red). Like those of the center circle (seen on the right and in the next photo), these columns are recycled from earlier buildings.
