Inside the Holy House of the Virgin Mary, which is said to have been flown from Nazareth to Italy by angels after the Crusades. The fresco fragments on the walls date from the 14th century; the vault was added in the 15th century. The robed statue of the Virgin and Child, made of black cedar wood, is a copy of the ancient original that was destroyed by fire in 1921.
