Ambo from North (c.1110)
North side of marble ambo, made in the early 12th century (some sources say 1110, others 1143) and reconstructed after the roof collapsed in 1196. This side is the only part of the balustrade (upper part) that survived the roof collapse. The inner base is an Early Christian sarcophagus dating from 385. Sant'Ambrogio Basilica, Milan, Italy.
