The Pantheon, Rome

The portico (porch) of the Pantheon is made of 16 monolithic Corinthian columns topped by a pediment. The inscription MˇAGRIPPAˇLˇFˇCOSˇTERTIUMˇFECIT means: "Marcus Agrippa, son of Lucius, during his third consulate, built this." This reflects that a temple was first built here by the magistrate in 27 BC, but the current building is entirely Hadrian's, built in 125 AD.
