Gothic pulpit by Nicola Pisano (1265?68) in Siena Duomo. Its seven marble panels depict the life of Christ in crowded scenes full of movement. Four of the eight outer columns rest on lions, while the base of the central column is populated by seated philosophers and personified liberal arts. Duomo, Siena, Italy.
