Centre Islamique de Genève, Geneva
The Centre Islamique de Genève (Islamic Center of Geneva), also known as "the little mosque," is a small whitewashed house with green shutters.
It is the first Islamic center in Europe, founded by the Egyptian Said Ramadan in 1965.
The largest room downstairs has been converted into a mosque; opposite is a classroom for Arabic and Islamic education lessons and for conferences.
The conferences, held on Saturday evenings, cover an interesting range of subjects and are open to the general public. Books on Islam are also on sale.
