Musée Historique/Ancien-Evêché, Lausanne
Just behind Lausanne Cathedral is the former bishop's palace or Ancien-Evêché, which has been converted into the Musée Historique de Lausanne.
Remaining from the bishop's palace is a 13th-century fortified tower. Inside, the museum has a large collection of historical studies of Old Lausanne.
The highlight of the collections is in the basement, where a 23 sq. m (250-sq.-ft.) scale model depicting the old city as it was in the 17th century with excellent commentary. It details the history of the various neighborhoods and provides a bird's-eye view of the city's many hills and valleys.
