Photo Gallery: Antioch Artifacts

This gallery of 47 photos accompanies our article on Antioch. This gallery contains photos of artifacts found in or near ancient Antioch (modern Antakya, Turkey), ranging in periods from Bronze Age to Hittite to Roman to early Christian. The types of artifacts are also wide-ranging, including everything from coins to tomb reliefs to an amulet and curse tablets. Many of these finds are displayed in the Hatay Archaeological Museum in Antakya, along with many wonderful Antioch mosaics. Others grace museums such as the Louvre, the Met, and the Princeton and Worcester Art Museums. Click any image to enlarge or start at the beginning for a virtual tour.
