This mosaic of a Dancing Satyr is one of a three-part composition with the Drinking Contest at its center; it was on the left side as one entered the Atrium House dining room.
The satyr holds the pan pipes in one hand and raises his other hand in the air. In the midst of a dance, he twists his body and stands on his toes on a narrow band of grey ground. He can be identified as a Dionysiac follower by the skin wrapped about his hips (nebris), the spotted skin tied around his neck, and his vine wreath.
