The United States is home to many notable cathedrals, some of which have truly exceptional architecture and artworks. St. Patrick's Cathedral New York City, New York This is the largest Catholic cathedral in the United States. Strongly rooted in Irish Catholic heritage, it hosted many of the funerals for fallen police and firefighters after 9/11. National Cathedral Washington DC, District of Columbia This Neo-Gothic Episcopal cathedral is the sixth largest cathedral in the world. Completed in 1990 after 83 years of construction, it hosts important national ceremonies such as presidential funerals. Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels Los Angeles, California Completed in 2002, this modern Catholic cathedral is the third-largest in the world. It is a fine example of modern religious architecture and contains many notable artworks.
