Looking across the courtyard to the great chapel (left) and west range of the Bishop's Palace.

The west range is the oldest section of the palace, dating from the late 12th century or early 13th century. It was originally a single-story building but was modified in the 14th century when the undercrofts were inserted below and two dormitory-style chambers were created above.
