Tomb of Frederick the Wise
Tomb monument of Frederick the Wise, Elector of Saxony (1486-1525) and supporter of Martin Luther. Completed in 1527, this memorial is regarded as a fine example of Early Renaissance art. Frederick's robes hang softly and naturally and his face is highly expressive. The memorial was made by Peter Vischer the Younger of Nuremberg, who probably met the Elector personally in 1524.
