Gloucester Cathedral: South Transept

South Transept

Entrance to the crypt (red door) and south ambulatory stairs from the south transept of Gloucester Cathedral, looking east. To the right of the door is the Mason's Bracket, commemorating the an apprentice mason who fell to his death during the building of the medieval abbey. The south transept was remodeled in the emerging Perpendicular Gothic style in the 1330s.
