Fontevraud Abbey: Romanesque Kitchen

Romanesque Kitchen

The Romanesque kitchen, a fascinating structure with a Byzantine-style cupola and fish-scale pyramid roof, like those seen in nearby Poitou. It dates from around 1160 and was restored in the early 20th century by Lucien Magne, who added a lantern to each chimney. Abbey of Fontevraud, Loire Valley, France.
