Münster Cathedral: Tütemännchen and Woman

Tütemännchen and Woman

As part of Münster Cathedral's astronomical clock (1540-43), the Tütemännchen ("little blower") sounds the full hours on his horn while the woman at his side matches each note with a ring of the bell. On the far right are the Virgin and Child; everyday at noon, the Three Magi emerge in procession to pay homage. The man in the black beret and red coat near the center is Ludger tom Ring, the clock's painter.
