Newgrange: Stone Circle

Stone Circle

Part of the stone circle surrounding Newgrange in County Meath, Ireland. Originally there were about 35 standing stones around the tomb, of which only 12 now remain. The stones may have been erected long before the tomb was built, but archaeologists have not been able to determine their date with any certainty. None of the stones are decorated with carvings.
