Rievaulx Abbey: Presbytery Detail

Presbytery Detail

Detail of the elevation of the presbytery near the crossing, looking ecclesiastical north (actual east). Rebuilt in the 1220s, the presbytery of the abbey church is one of the great works of Early English Gothic architecture. It has strong similarities with the architecture of Ely Cathedral. Rievaulx Abbey, founded 1132. North Yorkshire, England.
