Rievaulx Abbey: South Arcade of Presbytery

South Arcade of Presbytery

Elevation of the presbytery, looking ecclesiastical south (actual west) to the south aisle and transept. Rebuilt in the 1220s, the presbytery of the abbey church is one of the great works of Early English Gothic architecture. It has strong similarities with the architecture of Ely Cathedral. Rievaulx Abbey, founded 1132. North Yorkshire, England.
