Known as the "Pompeii of France," the town of Vaison-la-Romaine in Provence is home to magnificent Roman ruins, as well as two splendid Romanesque churches.

This former cathedral in Provence dates primarily from the 12th century. Its lovely cloister has sculpted capitals and a lapidary museum.
